"Innocence" is the sixteenth episode of the twentieth season of NBC's long-running legal drama Law & Order.

The detectives arrest a man who is tried and found guilty of killing a gay man as a hate crime. Believing the case found a guilty verdict too quickly Emily Ryan (Amy Madigan) and Lisa Klein (Anna Chlumsky) come in with a group called the Innocence Collective, determined to prove the suspect's innocence and change the guilty verdict. Cutter later discovers that his old professor and mentor Emily and her student assistant, Lisa may have gone too far to get testimony in her client's favor. Cutter's license to practice law is put into question which almost costs him his career.

In its original American broadcast on March 15, 2010, "Innocence" was watched by 6.90 million average households over the hour, among viewers aged between 18 and 49, according to Nielsen ratings. The episode had outperformed Castle on ABC, which drew only 6.57 million households by 0.32 million households. "Innocence" had 2.07 million viewers less than the episode of CSI: Miami that aired on CBS that night which drew 8.97 million viewers. It was the highest rated episode on NBC that night outdoing both Trauma and Chuck.[1]
